Moving to Warsaw: An Astrocartography Guide for Ukrainians
4 min read
Warsaw lies at about 52.2°N, 21.0°E. For someone born in Kyiv, moving there rotates the chart's meridian about 9.5° west; from Kharkiv about 15°, from Lviv only about 3°. That shifts the Midheaven and house cusps by roughly the same number of zodiac degrees, which can move planets near a cusp into a new house. To read Warsaw for yourself, check which planetary lines pass within about 200–300 km of 21°E and build a relocation chart for the city.
Warsaw on the map
Warsaw sits at about 52.2°N and 21.0°E. That longitude is the key number for astrocartography, because MC and IC lines are straight north-south meridians. Any of your MC or IC lines between roughly 18°E and 24°E runs within about 200 km of the city. At Warsaw's latitude, one degree of longitude is about 68 km.
The approach below works for anyone. It is written with Ukrainian births in mind, because Poland is home to one of the largest Ukrainian communities in the EU, and many readers are comparing Warsaw with other Polish cities or with staying closer to home. If you are new to the method, start with How to Read an Astrocartography Map.
How much does your chart rotate when you move to Warsaw?
A relocation chart keeps your birth moment and turns the house frame by the longitude difference. Moving west turns the frame to earlier zodiac degrees. The table shows the approximate rotation from common Ukrainian birthplaces:
| Born in | Longitude | Shift to Warsaw | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kharkiv | 36.2°E | about 15° west | Midheaven and cusps move about half a sign; several planets may change house |
| Dnipro | 35.0°E | about 14° west | Similar to Kharkiv |
| Odesa | 30.7°E | about 9.7° west | Planets within about 10° of a cusp may change house |
| Kyiv | 30.5°E | about 9.5° west | Same as Odesa |
| Lviv | 24.0°E | about 3° west | A small shift; only planets very close to a cusp are affected |
The zodiac-degree shift of the Midheaven is close to the longitude shift, a little more near Aries and Libra and a little less near Cancer and Capricorn. Latitude also matters for the Ascendant: Warsaw is about 1.8° north of Kyiv and 2.4° north of Lviv, which changes the rising degree slightly. A worked example: Olena, from Kharkiv to Warsaw
Olena, the hypothetical client from the astrocartography guide, was born in Kharkiv. Suppose her natal Midheaven is at 25° Gemini and her Mercury at 15° Gemini. In Kharkiv, Mercury sits about 10° before the Midheaven, at the end of her 9th house.
Relocated to Warsaw, about 15° further west, her Midheaven moves back to roughly 11° Gemini. Mercury at 15° Gemini is now just past the Midheaven, in the 10th house. Her Mercury MC line, where Mercury was exactly on the meridian, runs about 4° east of Warsaw, near Lviv.
In practice, this describes a Warsaw life where communication, writing, languages, networking or trade are more visible in her career than they were in Kharkiv. It fits many real situations: people learning Polish, working in translation, logistics, IT support or sales. The chart does not cause the job; it describes which parts of Olena's own chart the new setting brings forward.
Which lines near Warsaw to look for
When you open your own map, note every line within roughly 300 km of 21°E, and read it as planet plus angle:
| Line near Warsaw | How it often shows up |
|---|---|
| Sun or Jupiter MC | Visibility, promotion, a career that grows quickly |
| Venus or Moon IC | A home that feels comfortable, a supportive community |
| Mercury AC or MC | Learning the language faster, networking, work with words |
| Mars AC or MC | Energy and drive, but also friction and overwork |
| Saturn MC or IC | Slow, serious building; responsibility at work or at home |
| Neptune or Pluto on any angle | Intense or confusing periods that need extra grounding |

Warsaw or Kraków?
Kraków is at about 50.1°N, 19.9°E, only about 1.1° west of Warsaw. That means their MC and IC lines are nearly identical: if a Jupiter MC line runs through Warsaw, it runs about 75 km from Kraków too. The differences come from:
- Latitude. Kraków is about 2° further south, so the Ascendant and the AC/DC curves shift a little.
- Parans. Paran latitudes run east-west, so a paran at 52°N touches Warsaw but not Kraków, and one at 50°N the reverse.
- Practical life. Job markets, rent, community and the pace of the city differ far more than the charts do.
For a Kraków versus Warsaw decision, compare the two relocation charts, but do not expect astrology to settle it alone.
What if you already live in Warsaw?
Many readers moved in 2022 or later without choosing a city by astrology. A relocation chart is still useful after the fact. It can explain why some parts of life became louder, for example why work took over, or why home suddenly mattered more. Use it to decide what to work with, not to judge whether the move was right.
A short checklist for Warsaw
- Confirm your birth time and the historical time zone of your birthplace.
- Note every MC and IC line between about 17°E and 25°E, and any AC or DC curve crossing central Poland.
- Build a Warsaw relocation chart and list planets that changed house or sit near an angle.
- Compare with Kraków or another candidate city if you have a choice.
- Weigh the result against work, community, housing and family.
Key takeaways
- Warsaw is at about 21.0°E. Any of your MC or IC lines between roughly 18°E and 24°E passes within about 200 km of the city.
- Moving from Kyiv to Warsaw rotates your chart about 9.5°; from Kharkiv about 15°; from Lviv about 3°.
- Warsaw and Kraków are only about 1.1° apart in longitude, so they share MC and IC lines. Their differences come from latitude, AC/DC curves and parans.
- Relocation shows how your natal chart is expressed in Warsaw; it does not replace it.
- Practical factors such as work, community and housing matter at least as much as any line.
